uknowitsIKE released ‘Uncle IKE’

Having spent a lot of time away from people during last year’s pandemic, uknowitsIKE becomes vulnerable through these self-produced songs about doubt, anxiety, and fear, while balancing themes of confidence, encouragement, and hope. With each track sounding completely different from the last (save the first two connected songs) he expresses a journey of experiences and internal thoughts with the instrumentation reflecting those ideas. From hip hop trap beats with symphonic choirs to slow piano with rock electric guitars and everything in between, several genres of music are fused to form creative bedding for uknowitsIKE’s voice to rest on.

Rapping and singing on each track, uknowitsIKE shares personal struggles and conversations with God formed over the past couple of years. Having graduated from college in December 2019 and going right into the pandemic instead of the “real world” that society trains us for, added to the difficulty of finding purpose and meaning. ‘Uncle Ike’ gives insight about those struggles and internal battles through topics of fighting the devil, overthinking at night, and admitting to sin, while also giving insight to moments of strength, feeling unstoppable, and having hope through God.

We are elevated when on our knees in prayer and worship to God. Before God when we are weak then we are at our strongest. We are called to not fear man or anything of this world because compared to the powerful God we serve the enemy is nothing.

When we wake up the first thing we need, is to be in His presence and in this song the artist does not leave that aspect of the Christian walkout. It is an imperative part for the Christian walk daily. It is what gets us ready for the battles we are faced with daily.

Jesus is the Great I AM. The one who created everything including you and me, and that is who the artist is speaking about in this song.

“In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,”

Ephesians 1:13

The mark, the seal that the artist speaks of is the seal mentioned in Ephesians 1:13. As Christians, we are marked and set apart by His seal which is His Holy Spirit. Regardless of what we are going through, what we have done or what we have lost, nothing can take our new identity away from us because that is protected and secure in what Jesus has done for us.

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

Matthew 25:21

At the end of this life, we spend on Earth, the only thing we should want from God is permission to praise Him for all He has done for us. Many of us desire’s His ‘well done. Can we say that we are worthy of it? What are we doing to proclaim His name to the world?

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

– Matthew 28:18-20
