A new release from Independent artist Shimon Atunde for his single “ Esé ” featuring Afolake is out. The upbeat song reels you into a moment of praise, as the lyrics reflect on the life-changing effect of having Christ come into your life. The response to His transformative work in our lives is beautifully captured through the title of this song, which literally means “ Thank you ”.
This new single was made in collaboration with Atlanta-based Gospel Artist Afolake. Afolake is the artist behind Gospel Hydration’s top song of 2020 “Satisfy” and on her first collaboration, her lyrical and vocal excellence does not disappoint. Afolake and Shimon have made an alluring song that preaches the gospel in every line but also brings dancing to your feet in glory to our heavenly Father. “ Esé ” is a song of thanksgiving for all seasons as in truth, what else can we say to God but “Thank you”.
Shimon is a Lagos-born, UK-based gospel artist who creates Spirit-filled afrobeat music that talks simply and plainly about his life experiences in the light of God’s grace and love. Shimon is not only inspired by these experiences but by what is going on around him. Shimon is a Ph.D. student in the department of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Leicester, plays the keyboard at his local church, and is an avid fan of retro media such as cassettes and vinyl.
Afolake is a Lagos-born, Atlanta, Georgia-based gospel artist who expresses her love for God through her songwriting. She originally wrote Christian R&B/Pop music during her undergraduate days but as she allowed the Lord to guide her, she has recently found herself writing Afro-soul/Afrobeat music and she’s loving it! Based on the revelations of God’s perfect love and grace, she has found herself satisfied in Jesus Christ and writes her songs based on this testimony. Afolake enjoys meeting new people, chilling with friends, and trying new makeup trends and hairstyles. You’ll find her worshipping anywhere where God’s presence is found.
Together, these incredibly talented artists have created a song that not only lifts your spirit, but that serves as a steady reminder of how much we have to be thankful for in Christ. There is a sense of contentment found in our thanksgiving, which helps us praise Him for what He has already done, instead of what we think He should be doing. If you ever need a reminder of the goodness of God, Shimon Atunde’s “ Esé “ is the song for you.
“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!”1 Chronicles 16:34
