Matthew Parker is an American Christian Musician, his music is nothing but amazing, songs like sailboat, bloodstream are also worth the listen. By so far Roses is my favourite. So let us dig deeper through Roses and absorb the beauty.

In the busy world, we are currently living in, it is so easy for us to go about life and miss the realness of each precious moment. We might become numb to truths that are right in front of our eyes. This song motivates us to see beyond the pain and beyond the thunderclouds.

“We’re movin’ too fast, and everybody knows it, I don’t wanna lose nobody else to overdosin’, Feelin’ left out ’til You told me I’m chosen, I just gotta stop and smell the roses.”

There is a specific part in the song where they mention they felt out until they were chosen. So, when we are chosen, our hearts are transformed from a heart of stone to a heart of flesh and within the song they mention this too, which is so amazing:

“There’s beauty in the moment your heart is unfrozen, I see the stars through the thunderclouds, I just gotta stop and smell the roses.”

Roses by Matthew Parker feat. Sajan Nauriyal

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. “

Ezekiel 36:26

This is a promise from God. To help us see things clearer, to see Him for who He truly is. It is a reconciliation between man and God. But in this instance, we need to start seeing things clearly for ourselves.

“Looks so good from the outside lookin’ in, But real life’s got me right back down again, And I don’t wanna be here anymore, no”

Roses by Matthew Parker feat. Sajan Nauriyal

You see, being a Christian is not about being perfect on the outside, portraying ourselves as holy ones when in truth we care merely what other people think so we portray that “perfect” image. We need to stop and smell the roses. We need to see the truth. That religious mentality is wrong. Jesus looks at the heart.

We’re movin’ too fast , and everybody knows it, I don’t wanna lose nobody else to overdosin’, Feelin’ left out ’til You told me I’m chosen, I just gotta stop and smell the roses, Don’t look down when the sun comes out, There’s beauty in the moment your heart is unfrozen, I see stars through the thunderclouds”

We need to open our eyes to the truth, the truth of those suffering around us too. We need to care because you never know how much impact you have; your smallest action could save someone’s life. We are called to be different; we are called to be loving, caring, we need to stop the numbness and get involved with those who are struggling

Enjoy the moment, this is what I get from this verse too. It also speaks about seeing goodness in the darkest moments or toughest storms. We just need to wake up and see truly what is right In front of us, the joy awaits.

Slow down, I can’t let these blessings go unnoticed, I don’t wanna spend more time lookin’ at thorns than roses.

We need to stop complaining about the issues we currently experiencing but we need to see the grace in those struggles, the blessings God has given. We need to learn to be grateful.

This song has truly opened my eyes, revealing so many truths that I am not currently seeing. It is such a pleasure to listen to as well. I hope and pray that when you have a listen that you will be inspired to make a difference in your daily life and in the lives of others surrounding you.

Thank you Matthew Parker and Sajan Nauriyal for this incredible work of art.
