Philippa Bamgboye ft. Shardz – Comfort

Philippa Bangboye is an upcoming artist who has an incredible authentic tone. In her music she notably uses Scripture which is the golden thread throughout her songwriting process.

‘Comfort’ came from a deeply vulnerable place. The artwork done by Ashley Greaves, pays tribute to her late father, David Greaves, to which she refers to in the line “…. and will I see him again, Oh God?”. The passionate artist wrote this song for those, who especially in the year that we have had, have experienced a form of loss to which comfort is needed.

The track, produced by Idrees Oloyode, opens up with an underwater effect, representing how overwhelming loss can be. We then breakthrough with a punchy bassline, creative percussion and ear candy that has been infused for our listening pleasure, further emphasising the message that it is most definitely okay to acknowledge the pain in difficult times and in doing so, God can heal that pain as He ‘gives strength to the weary and is near to the broken.

This song leaves us with the assurance that God hears, He knows, He never fails and He is always there.

Like Jesus says “I am with you always till the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20).

This song speaks so much about comfort. We all need comfort especially in losing someone. When grief comes and the waves of saddness comes all over and over again, we are in desperate need of the Comforter. Scripture says that we have a comforter.

I have told you these things while I am still with you. But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor – Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name (in My place to represent Me and act on My behalf). He will teach you all things. And He will help you rememeber everything that I have told you.” –

John 14:25-26

“Oh my God, God of all Comfort, You give strength to the weary, Near to the broken –

Philippa Bamgboye ft. Shardz – Comfort

God is the God of all comfort and there is not where else we can truly find real comfort.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.”

– 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

She mentioned that God is near to the broken. Here is a scriptural passage that relates to this. Why I show you this is because all she is saying is true.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

– Psalm 34:18

God is close to the brokenhearted, whether you have lost someone close to you, whether you have made the wrong choices, whether you are depressed, bankrupt, Know that He is close and that you can find comfort in the truth that He is constant and never changing. We serve a good God.

“Ain’t no stopping you now , You’ve shown me who You are, You’re plans are greater, You’re thoughts are higher”

Philippa Bamgboye ft. Shardz – Comfort

Sometimes we ask the questions like “why does God allow me to go through the pain“, but in truth, we do not understand the greater picture, God has a greater plan beyond the pain and darkness we see, His ways are higher. So one truth we can stand on for Comfort is that we do know that God works all things for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

– Isaiah 55:8-9

“In the dark of the night, I won’t be afraid ,Christ more than a Bruce ,No Wayne”

Philippa Bamgboye ft. Shardz – Comfort

If you are a DC comic fan and you have atleast watched one Batman movie, you’d know the name Bruce Wayne. The writer of this part Shardz mentions this becuase there is no Hero or superhero as Great as our God Jesus Christ. He has more power and He is the light that casts out darkness. Superman, Wonderwoman or Aquaman has nothing on Jesus. None of them have fashioned the Earth and none of them are capable of dying for your sins.

So when you listen to this song keep in mind that regardless of the trial you face, your God is bigger and stronger. He says knock and the door will be opened, seek and you shall find, ask and you will receive. Our God is there to Comfort you and there is no greater thing than to be on His
