Marqus Anthony released “Like me”

LikeMe by Marqus Anthony is an anthem for everyone! We were all made in the image and likeness of God regardless of our race, height, or body type. Marqus Anthony strives to encourage people to love one another as well as themselves. Every life made by God is precious and valuable. The anti-suicide second verse is one of his most powerful yet. Marqus extends beyond his comfort to not only be vulnerable but also to sing more than he ever has on a release. The Avila production hits just right and Marqus Anthony’s flows and cadences are the perfect compliment to create a wavy vibe.

Imago Dei, this word speaks about us being made in God’s likeness as human beings and I found it fitting to share this word for this song because it is a song exactly about that.

“So, God created mankind in his own image, in the image God he created them; male and female he created them.”

Genesis 1:27

He created us with intention as the song says. That purpose and intention can be found in one line “Soli Deo Gloria” this means for God’s Glory Alone.

There is a part in the song that says the writer or author used to think Jesus was a clown. But then God changed his life around. See one morning you wake up and you think you are this very same person every day, and the next God lays His hands on you and gives you the Holy Spirit and you are never the same.

When God created us, He created us for Him. You see God desires fellowship with us. When He created us, he also ended it off with a “it is very good”. (See Genesis 1)

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”

Psalm 139:14

God had created the stars, the mountains, the beautiful landscapes and then He created you. Can you fathom the wonderful work He did by creating you? You are beautiful, made with intention and God gave it His best.

You are literally God’s favourite when it comes to His creation and there is no doubting that, it is clear, because He died to save you from the mould of this world to get you back to who you truly are created to be.

Therefore, we live right while walking in our calling, to represent the beauty of our Holy God. Imagine a world where everyone genuinely believed the truth about Jesus and their identity in Him?  If everyone understood their purpose in this life in Christ, suicide rates would go down, love would be abound and truth would set people free. Here are some words from Jesus himself:

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners.”

– Isaiah 61:1

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

– Luke 4:18-19

Jesus purposefully quoted Isaiah because He is the one that has been sent to save you from darkness.

This song brings such encouragement to those who are lost, that need to be reminded of who they are. An excessively big thank you to Marqus Anthony for this beautiful piece of art.
