Jai Lynn – No conditions

This song speaks on how through times of hardship we all need love, unconditional love, and how, standing still and letting love in will strengthen you through times of hardship. – Jai Lynn

I want to highlight a couple of phrases in this song so you the listeners and hearers have the opportunity to see it from a biblical perspective.

“We got them shackles off my, Feet now I’m counting, All my blessings ima just, Follow yo lead had to stop Gps’n, Trips to wherever feels right, Ima go visit the slums and Shed the light ahh” – Jai Lynn, No conditions

When we become born again, we are free from sin because we were once slaves to sin, so when the artist mentions that he got the “shackles” off his feet, it represents that he is set free from sin in Jesus and because of this newfound freedom, he is counting the blessings that God has given him.

He counts his blessings, but he starts to change by following Jesus Christ’s ways, he stops gossiping (turning away from the sin and turning to trust Jesus’ lead), He is also being obedient by sharing the light in the slums, now this is a command from Jesus that we ought to go out and make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20) and this is exactly what he is doing according to this verse in the song.

“Learning the right way to love, Been a fight, Filled with the Holy Spirit, So I use him as my guide”- Jai Lynn. No Conditions

When you become a Christian, you become a place for the Holy Spirit to dwell and with that comes gifts, comfort, guidance and fruit from the Holy Spirit. He mentions one of the fruit of the Spirit which is found in Galatians 5:22-23 which is ‘love’. The Holy Spirit is teaching him to love and through the fight to become a better person the Holy Spirit guides and transforms him.

“…satan, Thought he had me down, He was on a mission, I took my sins to my father, Now my sins are forgiven”- Jai Lynn. No Conditions

When he says that he took his sins to his Father, He is speaking about God the Father and how he has repented and sought his forgiveness for the sins he has committed and God has forgiven Him.

“I had to cut off some homies Before they do me like they judas”- Jai Lynn. No Conditions

Becoming a follower of Jesus Christ requires sacrifice. If you are on the narrow path, the world cannot have a say in what you should and should not do. Some of us really need to separate ourselves from others who do not understand yet because we need to grow in the likeness of Christ. It is a difficult path and no one said being a Christian would be easy.

In this lyric, the person he also mentions is Judas Iscariot who was one of Jesus’ disciples who betrayed Him.

Show me, love, when it’s rough, And the world turns to ruins…, Now whats love, Love is when you praying, For the ones who did you mud, Love is when you fighting, And you never giving up, Love is something that you, Don’t really find in the slums- Jai Lynn. No Conditions

Here he mentions the love you should have for your enemies. Jesus commanded this in Luke 6:27-31

“But to you who are listening, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

Luke 6:27-31

So this for all my enemies, Let us make a toast and pray that your heart, Turn from stone into gold

He even seeks what is best for his enemies. By praying that their hearts turn from stone into gold. It means that he prays and desires that they come to know Jesus and that they will no longer be slaves to sin just as he was. He wants them to believe and receive eternal life in Jesus Christ.

The heart of stone is seen throughout scripture. From the Old Testament, we see prophecies in Ezekiel that God will take our hearts of stone and turn them to flesh (Ezekiel 36:26) and this is what the artist means by this statement.

Thank you so much for this song. It truly shed a light in the darkness and god willing it will bring nations to their knees in awe of Jesus.
