Belema. Mark Releases New Single ‘Only Your Love’

Belema. Mark is a man of many talents. One of those he just shared with the world by releasing his first single ‘Only Your Love’. The track features artist and friend Afolake, who compliments it beautifully. When you first listen to this song you will be drawn in by its soulful melody, captured by his vocal abilities and chanting the wonderful truth of the deeply satisfying love of Christ.

The meaning behind the lyrics:

“The love of Christ is the inspiration behind this song. This song was written from a place of reflection. The work of the cross is a finished product of God’s love and allows us to experience the freedom we enjoy today.”

Belema. Mark

What an incredible truth we as Christians are founded in. We find our freedom through a reconciled relationship to God, who displayed the greatest act of love on the cross. Scripture tells us that the saving work of Jesus is not something in which God meets us halfway. Rather, He meets us all the way. He meets us in our brokenness, in our complete inability to turn from the destruction of our own sin, and shows us His gracious love.

This love enables us to turn to Him in repentance and to experience that freedom Belema talks about. This leaves us not boasting in our own deeds, but through songs like Only Your Love, lifting high the One who did it all.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this While we were still sinners Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8

The artist includes a few Igbo words from Nigeria throughout his lyrics, that display the character of God.

The word ‘ekwueme’ describes the Lord as: “He says and He does”. What a wonderful word! We have the privilege to serve the God who not only speaks by His word, but He keeps His word. He is a faithful God, whose word never fails. We have God’s Word today. The Bible is the very Word of God given to us to seek His will, learn His character, and be comforted by His promises. He has given us access to it, I pray that we will take hold of it with both hands.

One more phrase that stands out is ‘Oba to kii su’ which refers to God as the King that never sleeps. There is not a thing that catches Him off guard, He is working together His purposes in all parts of life in His sovereign power. God never slumbers, His watchful eye is ever over His people.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:37-39

Only His love. I hope to leave you with this reminder from Belema. Mark. It is only His love that satisfies. We will find ourselves many times in life, searching for what will fill the God-shaped hole in our hearts, but it is only His love that truly satisfies the human heart. If you have wandered away, or if you are seated firmly in the truth of His love, He extends it to us each day through His new mercies.

“Nothing can separate, nothing else can satisfy”

Belema. Mark
