5 Ways to Relieve Your Anxiety In Stressful Seasons

A Hot Cup of Tea

At night our anxiety tends to kick in the hardest because we’re finally alone with our thoughts. A nice hot cup of tea right before bed can help you relax and soothe the pressure in your chest right before bed.

Reading your Bible

Diving into my faith has always been a remedy for me. No matter how many times you read a book in the Bible you can always get something new from it. What also helps me is, when I’m reading and I find something that applies to my life, I write about it. This helps me analyze what I’m going through, it also provides a biblical and personal understanding of what I am feeling. Try it, tell me how you feel afterwards.

Calling a Friend

Having a friend you can talk to can go a long way. Some of us need someone who will just listen and let us ramble. Some of us need a person who can calm you down and tell you stories to keep your mind off things. Whoever that first person that comes to mind is, keep them in your favorites.

Working Out

Battling with anxiety makes you feel like you don’t have control over your body or even your life. Small things like doing twenty more push up or running an extra mile makes you feel you have taken that control back. Focusing on your reps, planning your meals, and pushing yourself to do more; is your mind and your body working together.

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Talking to God right before bed or during an episode helps me relax. God has always been the one I can bare my all to. I just tell the Lord everything that’s been going through my mind and ask him for help getting through it. There is peace in that for me, knowing God’s got me no matter what and even if I don’t understand now I will in the end.
